The “Bad Girls!” exhibition in Warsaw: REPULO’S gowns in celebrity portraits

Pictured: Kateryna Nechyporenko in the REPULO’S Halo gown next to the portrait of Justyna Steczkowska in the REPULO’S Shell gown.

Justyna Steczkowska, Anna-Maria Sieklucka and Agnieszka Kurowska play pop culture’s most iconic “bad girls” in portraits by Maksymilian Ławrynowicz. Several of the gowns were designed by Kateryna Nechyporenko, founder of REPULO’S.

Until the end of October, the lobby of Varso Place at ul. Chmielna 69 in Warsaw hosts “Bad Girls!”, the latest chapter of Polish photographer Maksymilian Ławrynowicz’s Projekt Kobiety series. Well-known Polish women step into the roles of pop culture’s iconic “bad girls”, posing alongside dogs with difficult pasts. The gowns worn by Justyna Steczkowska, Anna-Maria Sieklucka and Agnieszka Kurowska were designed by Kateryna Nechyporenko, founder of the occasion wear label REPULO’S.

The projectWhat is “Bad Girls!” – Projekt Kobiety 2026

“Bad Girls!” is the 13th edition of the photographic series Projekt Kobiety (#ProjectWomenSeries) created by Maksymilian Ławrynowicz. Ławrynowicz also founded Fundacja Projekt Kobiety, a foundation that supports women and tells their stories through culture and art.

This edition casts recognisable heroines with ambiguous characters, from Cruella de Vil to Lady Macbeth, in unexpected company: dogs with difficult histories. Among them are dogs rescued from puppy mills and adopted dogs, linked to foundations including Fundacja Mikropsy, Fundacja Psierociniec and Fundacja Kudłata Przystań. Theatricality and dark humour meet tenderness here, and the whole project draws attention to animals still waiting for a home.

The portraits feature, among others, Justyna Steczkowska, Anna-Maria Sieklucka, Agnieszka Niedziałek, Anita Sokołowska, Katarzyna Zielińska, Katarzyna Herman, Anna Karczmarczyk, Natalia Bukowiecka and Marta Krupa.

The looksREPULO’S gowns in the “Bad Girls!” portraits

For Maksymilian Ławrynowicz’s shoot, REPULO’S provided pieces that helped build the heroines’ bold, theatrical looks. Our designs appear in four portraits:

  • Justyna Steczkowska as the Siren – the pleated strapless maxi gown Shell.
  • Anna-Maria Sieklucka as Pandora – the Aurora dress, a mini style recreated in maxi length especially for the shoot.
  • Agnieszka Kurowska as Cruella de Vil – the pleated maxi gown Halo, the same one Kateryna Nechyporenko wore to the premiere.
  • Ewelina Melniczok as Nurse Ratched – the Aurora cape.

The black-and-white portraits bring silhouettes, textures and finishes to the fore. The intricate detailing of the gowns and the clean lines of the cape complete each character and become part of the artistic story. The designer is credited in the exhibition.

Justyna Steczkowska, one of Poland’s best-known singers, became the mythological Siren in the REPULO’S Shell pleated strapless maxi gown. The look is completed by a corset with sculptural, coral-like detailing made by Maksymilian Ławrynowicz. The outfit from the portrait is on display in the exhibition showcase.

The project premiered on 23 September at Varso Tower, the tallest building in the European Union.
