Dressing after breast augmentation: why individual proportions matter

Two women can share the same bust, waist and hip measurements, and the very same dress will still sit differently on each of them. Here is how REPULO’S accounts for that before a garment is made.

A perfect fit depends on more than a size label. After breast augmentation the position of the bust in relation to the torso changes, so a bust measurement alone is sometimes not enough to choose the right size. The basicsWhy can clothing fit differently after breast augmentation?

Standard size charts are built on average proportions. They work well when volume is distributed in a typical way, but no chart can cover every variation at once. After breast augmentation the position of the bust in relation to the torso changes, and that affects how the construction of a garment sits.

It shows most in pieces with a structured upper body: corsets, fitted dresses, jackets, garments with cups, darts or a clearly defined bust line. Two clients can have an identical bust measurement and a completely different distribution of that volume. A construction that sits perfectly on one figure may need a small adaptation for another. That is entirely normal.

ExperienceWhat we noticed working with REPULO’S clients

We used to work mainly from the standard set of measurements: height, bust, waist and hips. Experience taught us that for some garments this is not enough, above all for pieces with a defined bust line, corset construction or built-in cups.

We also noticed that some clients choose looser silhouettes or open necklines on purpose, because they had already experienced fitted pieces sitting differently than they hoped. That does not mean anyone needs to limit themselves to certain cuts. In most cases it is enough to account for individual proportions at the production stage.

How it worksWhat should you do when placing an order?

If you are ordering from REPULO’S through the website, Instagram, WhatsApp or any other channel, simply mention it in the note to your order.

• What we need to know. Only the fact itself. From there we work with proportions and measurements exactly as we would with any other order.
• Why we ask. Purely to choose the right size and fit, and to adapt the chosen piece to your figure where needed.
• What we will ask for. Your height and the main measurements. Depending on the construction of a particular model we may ask for a few additional points.

ConstructionWhat about models with built-in cups?

Many REPULO’S dresses and corset pieces are originally made with built-in cups. After breast augmentation an additional shaped cup is not always necessary, so for most of these models we can change the construction individually and make the garment without them.

In many cases this lets the fabric follow the natural shape of the bust and gives a more comfortable, more accurate fit. It is not a universal rule, because every figure is individual. That is why we advise before production which option suits a particular model best: keep the standard cups, modify them, or leave them out.

ProductionHow our own atelier makes adaptation possible

One of the real advantages of REPULO’S is our own production. We are not limited to ready-made standard sizes and can account for the particulars of a figure before a garment is cut.

What matters to us is not only whether you need an XS, S or M. It is how that size should sit on you. So we can adapt individual elements of the construction, work with the proportions of bust, waist and hips, adjust the length or any other detail that shapes the final fit. This is the same logic behind our made-to-measure service: measurements taken remotely, a result built around one specific figure.

After deliveryWhat if the fit is still not perfect when it arrives?

Even with precise measurements, a remote order can occasionally need a final adjustment, and we are ready for that.

Once your order arrives, try the piece on at home. If you would like it slightly narrower or looser, shorter or longer, or want another detail of the fit corrected, take photos or a video and send them to us with your comments. We will assess the fit and advise exactly what to change. Adjusting a garment to your figure after delivery is free of charge.

For us an order does not end the moment the parcel is delivered. What matters is that after the fitting you get the fit you chose designer clothing for in the first place.

The pointThere is no right or wrong figure

This is probably the main thing we wanted to say. There is no right or wrong bust shape, and there is no figure that fitted dresses, corsets or any particular cut simply do not suit. There are different proportions, natural or changed, and the job of a garment’s construction is to account for them.

So if you have had breast augmentation, just tell us when you place your order. For us it is one more piece of information about fit, exactly like your height, bust, waist or hips. Our job is to do everything we can so the REPULO’S piece you chose sits as if it was made for you.

Look 01Dream pleated wrap blouse

A wrap is one of the most forgiving constructions for the upper body. The depth of the neckline is set by the wrap itself and the soft drape never locks the bust line in place, so the blouse adapts naturally to different shapes and volumes. Long pleated sleeves add movement and balance the silhouette. Worn with high-waisted trousers it builds a complete evening look with no corsetry involved.

Look 02Lisa pleated cocktail mini dress

A halter neck with an open back works differently from a classic armhole: the weight is carried by the neck rather than the bust line, so the silhouette does not depend on a rigidly shaped cup. The pleating falls freely from the bust and absorbs any difference in projection. It is one of the easiest cuts to adapt, and we can make it without built-in cups on request.

Look 03Bon Bon one-shoulder pleated dress

The freest silhouette of the three. An asymmetric shoulder and a full pleated skirt with a bubble hem do not fix the bust line at all, so the dress sits on almost any proportions without changes to the construction. Here adaptation is usually a question of length or shoulder width, nothing more.
